New rules for Section D
Hi guys,
Work continues at pace on the book and I've added in some new rules covering the concealment and disguise of your Q Division gadgets. It's taken a little time to develop but The Secret Files of Section D now has an elegant solution for hiding weapons on the person and creating disguised items and concealment devices. This microsystem works equally well for pre-made objects or for those made in a rush while in the field. For GMs it works well as an on-the-fly system and creates tension or even humour as needed!
The Play Test GMs have given really positive feedback with one even stating that he's going to use the system in his other Savage Worlds games! That tells me we did a good thing.
Play The Secret Files of Section D at Hollerween II
October 31st 1940, Oxfordshire: As the Battle of Britain draws to a close, a section D team is sent to investigate the appearance of a mysterious crop circle which appears to point to the fighter station of RAF Upson Down. Meanwhile, in the nearby village of Little Happenseer, a spate of petty thefts appears to be connected. Is there a Nazi spy in the village, or is a more sinister power at work?
I'll be running two sessions of Section D and the Curse of the Undeaf at Pinnacle's upcoming Hollerween II online convention. The games are scheduled for Friday 29th and Saturday 30th of October at 8.00pm UK time and are down for 5 hours though I aim to complete in 4 (I have been known to overrun on 4 hour slots)
Click on the link below to get to the sign up schedule, you'll need to create a profile with the event if you don't already have one but it is free. Once you have your profile the schedule will display with your local times.
I'm running the games over Fantasy Grounds Unity but again there's no cost involved for players. You'll need to download and install the free demo version and I'll take care of the rest.
Feel free to post any questions here if you need, or click here to book your spot.
I look forward to seeing some of you at Hollerween!!
Happy gaming folks, and take care,
Allan.
Update on PDFs and features.

Hello all,
Once again it's been a while since I posted an update but I assure you work has progressed on the book and I hope to have the PDF out soon. By soon I mean 5 weeks or so. I know this is longer than expected in the grand scheme of things but, as I have said before, my focus is on a quality product.
With this in mind I'd like to tell you what I've been up to since the last update. Basically, the campaign style sections for GMs have been pretty much re-written. I've had some material in place for a while but once I really got into things like the Villain and Lair creation toolkits I realised a lot of work was needed to make the three campaign styles mesh without completely overlapping. This work is now complete and the three campaign styles are:
Pulp - The mainstay of The Secret Files of Section D. The Pulp campaign section has some really cool (at least this is what I am told by my wonderful playtest GMs) toolkits for generating Villains and their lairs, missions and a rapid way to create NPCs as characters and not just stat blocks. There's also a section on turning famous landmarks into mission objectives or villain lairs. Lastly there is a section on globetrotting and how to make travel work in a Pulp adventure.
Section D's Short Sunderland in the livery of Rasen Falcon Ltd, a shell company created by SIS.
Espionage - This campaign style is a halfway house between the Pulp and Military campaigns. It focuses on how to run city based espionage missions with a leaning towards the James Bond flavour. Glamour, high society and dastardly plots involving other spies and neutral territories where every nation has a presence. I've written sections on how cities like Geneva or Lisbon, both espionage battle grounds in WWII, could be used in a campaign. The Espionage campaign has two flavours as well. The resident agent which is closer to the Military campaign style, and the Mission Based style which is more episodic and involves lots of travel.
Military - This campaign style is definitely not for the faint hearted. The military campaign focuses on the real activities of the real Section D (and after June 1940 the Special Operations Executive). It's designed to be gritty and realistic and covers activities such as building a network of informants, establishing supply and communication lines, and identifying targets for sabotage. A comprehensive example of a Military Campaign in the Dutch city of Venlo is included. The very best example I can give of this campaign style is the awesome TV show X Company. It's available on many on demand / streaming services and well worth a watch.
Thanks again for your patience folks. I guarantee it will be worth the wait!

Delivery update.

Hello all,
As you know, I intended to have the PDF of the core book ready for release at the end of July, obviously that has not happened. Work has continued but there have been some unforeseen circumstances that have required attention away from the Section D project, and not just for me. I am experiencing a delay on the delivery of some of the final pieces of artwork and this impacts the layout work, which has started, but will be longer in delivery than I would have liked.
Play testing for the new Cliff Hanger rules was a mixed bag. Some of it worked really well, some of it made the situations more confusing and more GM led that I would have liked. The feedback I have from players and GMs is that the concept is cool, it just needs to work better. A re-think and a re-write is in the pipeline, once we've got this right it will be a great tool for the game which I foresee being used in other settings.
So, not the great news I would have liked to deliver but I would rather have these setbacks now, when I can remedy them, than have a sub-par product that needs fixing later.
I will keep you all posted on progress soon. In the meantime, happy gaming!
