The Secret Files of Section D

Hi guys,

So it's been an interesting time since releasing the PDF last week. I've had really good feedback, made the top 10 hottest products for Savage Worlds, and I also discovered a pretty major technical issue.

Technical issue with PDF release

One of my proof readers raised an issue that when copying stat blocks out of the PDF (Release 2-2). The numbers and some other symbols weren't appearing when the copied data was pasted into a text editor such as MSword, or into a parsing tool such as those used for automatic character creation in VTTs. On investigation it turned out to be an issue with the font I had used for the main text of the book. All 240 pages of it! 

For those of you who care what was wrong, here it is: The font used (Corbel), for some reason has the default position of the numbers (and some other figures) misaligned. They look fine on screen and in the original PDF because the software I use had automatically created a forced position to put them in line. Forcing that position was creating a unique unicode which wasn't being picked up by target applications, and so they read all the numbers as missing characters. Not good.

I really want you guys to be able to get the best out of this product, and making life easy for the GM is very much a part of that, so a solution was needed. Cutting a long story short, the best and safest solution was to replace the main font. It's taken a little while to do that and then check back through the document to make sure everything was OK, but the job is done and the new release is available for download.

So while the font issue was the key thing to be fixed, I've also corrected a couple of minor mistakes I picked up on, and a few minor edits for clarity have been made. 

DTRPG now has Release 3 of the PDF, and I'm sorry to say, you'll need to download that version.

PDF is out to backers.

Hi everyone,

The PDF of The Secret Files of Section D is now out to backers, with delivery facilitated by Drivethru RPG. All backers above Sleeper Agent level should have received notification of the availability of the PDF. If you haven't received your email, please contact me and we'll get it sorted out for you. 

Not that I anticipate many issues, there are always typos and things which slip the net. With this in mind, I've created a feedback and snagging channel in the Section D Discord server. If you spot anything you feel needs attention, please report it there. Here's a link:

What about the physical book?

I want to get the print run ordered as soon as possible but I'm going to hold off for a week or so, just to ensure there are no issues with the content. I'll post another update on this soon.

We finally made it!

I'm pleased to say that Kickstarter has now released the data I needed and delivery of your digital copy of The Secret Files of Section D is commencing today. Look out for a mail from Drivethru RPG. 

There are still a few surveys I haven't had back yet so please drop me a line if you haven't seen it.

Backer Surveys

A slight technical issue

Hi guys,

Most of you are aware that the backer surveys for The Secret Files of Section D went out yesterday, and I've already received  over 50% of the responses. My thanks to those who have responded quickly and a gentle nudge if you've not done it yet. 

The responses generated have highlighted a slight technical issue with the Backer Report within Kickstarter, in that mine has shut down! The Backer Report is what allows me to see the data gathered by the surveys, which obviously includes the email addresses I need for delivering digital rewards. There's a good chance that the delays in getting to this point are the cause of the shutdown, data protection reasons and the like. 

I reported the issue to technical support at Kickstarter yesterday (Thursday 8th of September) and I am told it could take up to seven days for a resolution. I will be keeping a close eye on things and will update you all as soon as I have the data.

On the positive side, the release version of the PDF is now with my proof / test readers and I've received some really nice feedback. Oh, and a couple of things needing minor corrections!
