Latest Updates from Our Project:

Backerkit going live!
about 3 years ago – Fri, Jan 27, 2023 at 02:16:55 PM

Hi guys,

This is a quick note to say that some folks will be receiving their Backerkit surveys in the next hour or so. I say some becasue this is part of the Backerkit process to make sure that I've done everything right with the set up. Basically I have to select a few folks from each tier as guinea pigs!!

Those who don't receive a survey today will receive one in the next couple of days, you've not been forgotten.

Books and Backerkits

It's printed!

Hi guys, The news I've been itching to deliver for so long. The book is printed and is winging its way to our distributors. I received some photos last week from the printer and I got my own copy a couple of days ago:

Section D arrives

Here are a couple of images from the printers showing internal pages.

If I say so myself, it looks great!

Books should arrive with our distributor on Friday 3rd of February and we'll start getting them out just as soon as we can. With that in mind.......

Backerkit

First things first, I'm here to tell you that setting up a Backerkit for the first time is not easy! Now I know why there are people who do it for a living.

The Backerkit page is now done, as far as I know. At the time of writing this update it is awaiting review from Backerkit themselves so they require adjustments. After that, there's a "Smoke Test" where 5-10% of backers will recieve their emails with requests to collect shipping fees if applicable.  If that goes OK, everybody else will receive an email. I hope that will be Monday 30th of January at the latest but this is dependent upon Backerkit themselves reviewing tye page I've built.

The Backerkit has a special offer for those who backed The Secret Files of Section D at digital level only. You'll be able to add one copy of the hardback book for £20 (about $25) plus shipping. Basically paying the difference between your digital pledge and the physical ones.

There are also opportunities to purchase additional copies of the book or the adventure trilogy should you want them.

For retail backers, the opportunity is there to add extra copies to the one you've already paid for.

The adventures

The technical issues I experienced in the preparation of the print files, and then the set up of the Backerkit page, has impacted the layout work on the adventures but we are now back on track. I aim to release Better Latte Than Never in mid-February with the others following on just as quick as I can do the layout work.

Other exciting news

I've been speaking with the guys at Savaged US and The Secret Files of Section D will be available on that awesome platform soon. This will make character creation quick and easy and will include the new Edges, Hindrances and Setting Rules.

Possibly the most exciting news is that work is underway to bring Section D to Fantasy Grounds in the near future. The technical stuff (which I confess to understanding in the same way a 2 year old understands quadratic equations) is being handled by a long term fan of Section D who participated in the play testing of the Taster Edition adventure. I'm confident it's going to be superb.

I'll post another short update once the Backerkit page is fully live.

Changes to delivery details

Hi guys,

As of today I'm closing down the ability to change delivery address details for backers who have pledged for a physical book.

I'll be launching the Backerkit page in the next few days to facilitate the payment of shipping fees and pledge upgrades should you want to do that.

Watch this space for anticipated delivery dates which I will announce once the Backerkit page is live.

New and improved digital version.
about 3 years ago – Mon, Jan 09, 2023 at 02:14:26 PM

Hi guys,

Firstly I would like to wish everybody a happy and prosperous new year.

Physical books

As you all know, I sent some files to the printers just before the Christmas break hoping they would be the final ones. Predictably, another tiny technical issue was spotted, actually quite by accident so I guess I'm glad the quality guys over there are very diligent. Without getting too technical, some of the artwork in the layout, usually the art which has text wrapped around it, was causing issues with the text where there was a boundary overlap. Essentially, if the artwork was higer in the layer order than the text, the text below was being turned into a graphical element rather than a text one. Upshot, it looked rubbish and needed to be fixed.

Anyway, the print files are now done and approved, I should have a date for delivery to my UK distributor very soon.

Updated PDF

All the work on getting the print files ready has raised a couple of things which I felt required changing. One of these was that I started to think that the example sidebars and pages didn't really pop out enough so I have changed that. Basically I have reintroduced some colour to the full page examples and the single column notepad style examples. I think it's amazing how one subtle change can make such a big difference

The text in the "C's green pen" examples has been made a little larger as well.

Lastly, I decided to add the end paper designs which will be in the book to the PDF. It's not exactly new content, just some more photographs and notes / orders from the Chief!

So the new PDF has all the tweaks, fixes, typo corrections as the main book file and it's ready to roll. You should by now have received an email from DTRPG saying there's a new file for you, but in case you missed that I'm putting it here as well. Stop by DTRPG and grab it.

Feel free to drop by the Discord server - Section D HQ, or the FaceBook page @sectiondrpg for more Section D stuff or to reach to me.

I'll update again as soon as I know about delivery and hence shipping details for the printed book.

Happy gaming folks,

Allan.

Christmas!
over 3 years ago – Sun, Dec 25, 2022 at 04:10:09 PM

Hi guys,

First things first, I’m writing this update on my phone as I’m now travelling to see family for Christmas. So I’m afraid there won’t any pics or anything, there is some good news though.

A couple weeks ago I sent some files to the printer which were pretty quickly sent back with some technical issues. Apparently there’s a difference between digital black and print black! Every day is a school day 🤣

Anyway, I also spotted a couple of tiny grammatical errors and thought a final thorough read through would be prudent.

Bottom line, the book has had its final proofing and the technical issues are sorted. What I honestly believe to be the final copy is with the printers, and subject to their approval it will hit the presses just after the Christmas break.

Merry Christmas everybody, I wish all the very best to you and yours.

Allan.
