Post UK Games Expo update

Hi guys,

It's been a little while since I posted an update as I've been getting ready for UK Games Expo and I had a short break with my family immediately afterwards. 

UK Games Expo

Expo was a big success for Imaginarium Games and for GMS, my distributor. We had lots of visitors to the stand and all the Savage Worlds Products, Section D included, sold well. We also made some great connections with retailers and other potential partners which should see Pinnacle products back on the shelves of games stores in the UK and Europe soon. All being well, we will be shipping more product lines soon, as we received great feedback from fans at the Expo as to what is wanted.

Another success at UK Games Expo is that I was able to meet the creators of Dungeon Fog, an excellent mapping tool which I will be utilising to create encounter maps for future Section D products, starting with Better Latte Than Never.

US Shipping

To my knowledge, The Secret Files of Section D hardbacks have now been delivered to all US backers and pre-order customers, completing the delivery of the hardbacks. If anybody is still waiting for their copy, please drop me a line and we'll get it sorted for you.

Better Latte Than Never

As I've mentioned before, the re-writes I've been doing on the adventure are now pretty much done, though some minor edits may be required to ensure everything ties together neatly. The aim of the re-writes is to ensure GMs can cover most of the options dependant upon player character actions and successes. If the option is not there because the players have truly gone off piste, there is enough detail for the GM to get things back on track. 

Release has been delayed due to preparations for UK Games Expo, and the aforementioned short holiday but layout work on the final part of the adventure resumes this week.

US shipping and other things.

Hi guys,

Some good news for you fine folks.

US shipping

There was a bit of a misunderstanding at this end regarding the shipping to the US which unfortunately resulted in literally missing the boat, but that was a little while back and I am pleased to say that the bulk shipment of hardbacks is now underway to the US. I am told that the ship is scheduled to dock on, or around, May 17th and, pending any customs issues, the books will be delivered to our distribution partner in Michigan soon after. Our UK distribution guys have a lot of experience in transatlantic shipping and we are not expecting any customs delays. So, it is with a little trepidation as it's still not 100% in our control that I say last leg shipping to customers should start before the end of the month. You will receive tracking numbers etc, and I will post another update as soon as I know the books are with the distributor.

Savage Worlds books in the UK!

Some of you may have seen the posts I've put out on social media about physical Savage Worlds products available to UK and European fans. My distributor and I have struck a deal with Pinnacle and we have a pile of Savage Worlds physical products available for immediate shipping in the UK, and we can ship to anywhere in the world at reasonable rates. It's not the full catalogue as yet, here's what we have:

UK Games Expo

Imaginarium Games will be at the UK Games Expo from the 2nd to the 4th of June! As well as The Secret Files of Section D, we'll also have all of the products mentioned above for sale, plus Zeta Complex, and hopefully some other Savage Worlds stuff. Space and time permitting, there may be an opportunity for a demo skirmish of The Secret Files of Section D, I'll update on this nearer the time. 

You can find us on the Brittannia Game Designs stand in hall one, close to Games Workshop, next to EN Publishing, and opposite GeeknSons gaming tables where many longful gazes will be cast over the course of the weekend. Please feel free to come and chat all things Secton D and Savage Worlds, and take a look at the other great products by Brittannia Games including Chivalry and Sorcery. It promises to be a great weekend!

Fantasy Grounds

Long time fan of The Secret Files of Section D, Calum McDermot, has been working hard on a conversion of the setting to Fantasy Grounds and we're very excited to see this released! As well as everything needed to run The Secret Files of Secton D on Fantasy Grounds, this release also includes the full adventure from the Taster Edition, Trouble in Tripoli. It's a two or three session adventure with all the maps and handouts in their full glory, including deckplans for an evil genius' airship!

The hard yards are done on the conversion and we're just waiting on the review from Smiteworks before release. An announcement will be made when it's available to purchase.

Hi guys,

My apologies for yet another delay on Better Latte Than Never. Here's what's been happening.

As those of you who backed or pre-ordered the hardback will know, the books are now mostly dispatched. There's a delay for backers in the US because we're stocking a distribution function in Michigan in partnernership with our UK distributors. A large stock of books is in transit and will then be sent out via Media Mail which keeps the costs to a minimum for backers, and takes care of all the import duties etc. So yes, it's taking a little while, but in times when everybody is feeling cost of living increases, the cost and hassle savings are worth it I believe. I will update on delivery schedules as soon as I can.

Sick!

Since receiving the books in January I've been working closely with the fulfilment team to get things moving, and then I got ill. 

What started as a tickly cough became a severe head cold and then a chest infection, all of which lasted about three weeks. But then I noticed some other symptoms which were unrelated and I started to get a bit concerned. Symptoms not unlike those experienced by my Dad before he was diagnosed with prostate cancer (don't worry he's fine now). As you can imagine, I panicked a little, and then made the soonest possible appointment to see my doctor. So over the last week or so I've been undergoing various tests, proddings, and pokings. The upshot is that I don't have prostate cancer (insert gratitudes to designated deity here), but I have been diagnosed with quite severe type 2 diabetes. As a 50+ male who is overweight, likes a beer and another beer and a curry, and flies a desk, I shouldn't have been surprised. All of a sudden, my bouts of severe fatigue and other things sometimes associated with depression over the last couple of years made a lot of sense. 

So what now? Well now that I have a diagnosis I have begun to make some lifestyle changes and I am pleased to say that the results have been almost instant, to a degree. Don't get me wrong, I'm still deep in the woods, but I've found a path and I'm heading out. I'm already feeling a lot better and more productive again. 

Better Latte Than Never - Oh the irony!

The adventure, as I have said before, is written. Well it was until about a month ago. I discovered a couple of plot holes in the final act and a whole bunch of "what if" scenarios which I felt needed to be addressed. These scenarios were serious enough that a GM might have become stranded if the players took certain actions, and I want GMs to have everything they need to run the adventure seamlessly. So I'm developing some more background material for act three which enables GMs to keep things moving while allowing some player agency. I've also decided on a little plot twist which gives one of the major characters for act three a little more screen time and also works as a tool to create some urgency / consequence of failure for the player characters.

So in summary, I realised I needed to do some things better, and then I got ill and not much happened. But I'm back in the saddle now and I promise I'm going to work as hard as I can to get the adventure out to you as quickly as possible.

Hi guys,

Oops, sorry.

I need to start this update with a quick apology. It turns out that the backer surveys I collected via Kickstarter are largely irrelevant because we didn't collect shipping at the pledge phase. This means you'll need to input address details etc again when the remaining backerkit surveys go out later today. I can only apologise for the repeat of effort and claim lack of knowledge, this being my first Kickstarter and all. 

Backerkit surveys

As with my last update, a few people have received their Backerkit surveys where we're collecting shipping fees and offering the opportunity to upgrade pledge levels at the Kickstarter prices. This is what Backerkit call a "smoke test". It's gone well and everything appears to be working just fine so the remaining surveys will be sent out later today.
