Hi guys,

I'm going to keep this update brief.

As mentioned on the last update, files have been sent to the printers. I've had some feedback on a couple of things which have needed minor alterations. Chief among these is the recomendation to make the text in the green pen example boxes a little larger. I've done this, but not without having to tweak some of the page layouts a little. I think the end result is an improvement in the text without a noticeable difference to layout. 

I also picked up on a couple of repeated bits of text which needed to be fixed, and because of that I've decided on a line by line re-read to make sure it's perfect.

This work has delayed the release of Better Latte Than Never I'm afraid, but it will be with you soon.

Hi guys,

I've posted a couple of mini updates on Discord and Facebook but I've realised it's been a while since I put out an official one on here. Sorry about that.

A lot has happened in the last few weeks, most importantly...

Files sent to printers

After a hiatus for double and triple checking the PDF, as of this morning the print files are now with our printers. This has required the design of the end papers (the ones which are fixed inside the hard covers) as I didn't want to go with a plain paper. There's a good chance a couple of things may need tweaking once the print technologist sees the files but I expect the print run to go in the next couple of days. I'm told the delivery to our UK distributor will be a couple of days before Christmas so it's looking like a January delivery.

Backerkit launch

Once I have the print run ordered and a confirmed delivery date, I'll be opening the Backerkit page for pledge upgrades and for those who missed the Kickstarter to order the book.

The Backerkit page will also have the shipping costs and payment facilities for those receiving physical books. 

There will be an update on Kickstarter, Facebook and Discord when the Backerkit page goes live. 

Better Latte Than Never

Work progresses on Better Latte Than Never but has been paused while the print files have been prepared. Some additional artwork is in progress for the adventure including some Double Agent pledge characters and some new maps. Once I have these completed, the release of the adventure will follow in short order.

Final play testing

I took Better Latte Than Never to a convention last weekend and ran two sessions. The feedback received was very positive and I'm pleased to say that no bugs were reported. A GMs job is always easier when the players engage and I was really pleased with how these two groups did exactly that. They laughed in most of the right parts and each group dealt differently with the problems presented to the agents. All in all, another solid test.

There's a few little updates on things for you:

Better Latte Than Never

I ran into a couple of issues with the adventure, mostly around that I wrote it to run myself and I know how things are meant to go. I've discovered that knowing an adventure yourself, and preparing it for others to run, are two very different things. Covering the "what if the players do this" scenarios has required some editing I hadn't expected, particularly in the first act. The revised first act will be going to a couple of play test GMs in the next couple of days. 

Secondly, I realised that a couple of the art assetts I had, specifically old maps of Europe, were not of sufficient accuracy or quality for the adventure. So I've had to source / create a couple of new assetts which I hadn't counted on. 

Double agent backers

Some Double Agent backers have reached out to me and selected their characters to be included in the Better Latte Than Never adventure. Thanks to those who have done so. A couple of you have selected a character but haven't sent me a photo yet for my artist Mat to work from. If that's you, please drop me a line so we can get the ball rolling!

Physical book

Due to changing the book size from 8 x 10 to US Letter, and the extra 40 pages, resulted in me needing to get new quotes from our printer and do some re-design work for the cover, specifically around the spine width. This work is now complete and the print run will be ordered in the next day or two. So if you've spotted any errors, this really is the last call to let me know about them. 

Corrections

On the subject of corrections, the last PDF had a couple of typos and repeated words but nothing too serious. There will be another release of the PDF in the next couple of days available via Drivethru RPG. I'll post a short update when that's available.

I really hope you are enjoying The Secret Files of Section D. There are a few little things I need to get tidied up as I move into getting the print run ordered and press on with getting the adventures finalised:

PDF delivery

I'm still getting a couple of reports of emails not being received to allow backers to download their digital versions of the book from Drivethru RPG. 

If you haven't seen an email with the link, please drop me a line so that I can get it sorted for you.

Double Agent backer rewards

If you backed The Secret Files of Section D at Double Agent, you should have received a message from me with details of NPCs available in the Better Latte Than Never adventure. So far I've had two responses. 

Again, if you haven't received an email and feel you should have, please drop me a line. 

Corrections

My intention is to order the print run for the hardback book very soon. If you've spotted any mistakes (I am only human!) please let me know.

An update on Better Latte Than Never and Double Agent character rewards.

Hi all,

Now that the digital version of The Secret Files of Section D is out in the wild, I have moved swiftly on to finalising the Better Latte Than Never adventure. Well, I say swiftly, there has been a short pause for a severe bout of Man Flu but otherwise we're good.  Oh, and there was a brief hiatus to get the new character sheet (with a printer friendly version) on to DTRPG. They're free to download now if you haven't already got them.

New cover design for the adventures

I've decided on a little rework of the cover format for the adventures. It's evolution rather than revolution. I've also decided to colour code the books, so red for rulebooks, and blue for adventures. The sourcebooks which will come along later will be another colour, likely to be British Racing Green I think. Anyway, here's a snap shot of the cover for Better Latte Than Never.

Character rewards for Double Agent Backers

The Better Latte Than Never adventure has six Non-Player Characters available for Double Agent input including an image in your likeness. These will have to be given on a first come first served basis. Please don't forget that there are still two more adventures to come and each has available NPCs.

Double Agent backers will soon be receiving a message from me via Kickstarter to get things moving.
